Paul D. Kittelson

Paul DeWayne Kittelson was born on August 17, 1936 to Walter and Viola (Iverson) Kittelson at the Brooten Hospital in Brooten, MN.  He was baptized by Pastor Tolo of the Chippewa Falls Lutheran Church in Terrace, MN.  His sponsors were Wallace and Opal Iverson of Sioux Falls, SD.  He received his religious training and was confirmed by Rev.

Donna Mae Harder

Donna Mae Harder, 88, of Benson, died on Friday morning, January 10, 2020 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 15, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Benson. Interment will follow the service at the Benson City Cemetery. Arrangements are with Zniewski Funeral Home.

SWIFT COUNTY BOARD MINUTES December 17, 2019

Chairman Hendrickx called the meeting to order at 9:00 AM with all members present. Also present: County Administrator Kelsey Baker, Assistant County Attorney Shawn Reinke, Terri Orr, other county employees and members of the public.
Chairman Hendrickx asked if there were any changes or additions to the agenda. Chair Hendrickx had one addition prior to adjournment on early retirement. There were no other changes.  
12-17-19-01 Commissioner Rudningen moved and Commissioner P. Peterson seconded to approve the agenda as amended. Motion carried unanimously.

Benson girls top CGB for fourth win

The Benson girls basketball team improved to 4-4 overall with a 44-36 home win over Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley, Thursday night.  The game was the second half of a boys-girls doubleheader at BHS, the first of three doubleheaders this winter.

The Braves have three very tough games this week.  Benson was set to play at Minnewaska Area, Tuesday (yesterday) before hosting NLS, Thursday (tomorrow), and playing at Morris Area-CA, Friday.

Benson opened up this season with a one-point victory over the Tigers, winning on a last-second inbounds shot by Claire Ricard...

Benson boys win three more during holiday break

The Benson boys basketball team is 7-3 after going 1-1 at the Redwood Falls Tournament, Dec. 27-28, and winning a pair of games right after the New Year over Clinton-GB (83-36) and Montevideo (85-67).

The Braves were set to play at KMS, Tuesday (yesterday) before having a key five-game stretch after that.  Benson is set to play at NLS, Thursday (tomorrow) and at Morris Area-CA, Friday before playing Melrose, Sauk Centre, and BOLD...

Six wrestlers win titles at Braves Classic

The Benson wrestling team was finally able to get in the Braves Wrestling Classic after three tries, but only three teams were able to participate due to continued severe winter weather throughout the state.  The Braves had six individual champions during the tournament, which eventually took place Monday, Dec. 30.  The Braves also competed at the Paynesville quadrangular, Thursday, going 0-3 with losses to KMS (45-34), Howard Lake-WW (42-36), and Paynesville (40-36).  A recap of the Paynesville quad can be found in separate story.

Benson is set to take part in a quadrangular at Morris Area, Thursday (tomorrow), with ACGC and Minnewaska Area also set to compete, before wrestling at the Parkers Prairie Invitational, Saturday...

It appears appalling. Former Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden making a racist statement. With more than 1.4 million views on Twitter already, his alleged comments are spreading with the speed only the internet enables. There is just one big problem – the video of Biden’s remarks in New Hampshire were doctored.

His comments were made in response to a question on combating sexual violence. “Folks,” he said, “this is about changing the culture, our culture, our culture. It’s not imported from some African nation or some Asian nation. It’s our English jurisprudential culture, our European culture that says it’s alright.” However, the person who posted the edited version of Biden’s comments left out the “Folks this is about changing…”
