Evelyn Erenberg died Tuesday evening, September 7, 2021 at Folkestone-Gables Care Center in Wayzata, Minnesota. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 1, 2021, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Evelyn Gloria Erenberg was born January 7, 1925, in Sunburg, Minnesota, the daughter of Olaf and Ida (Haugen) Hollen. She was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Benson. She graduated from Benson Senior High School in 1943. After graduation, Evie worked in Washington D.C.  in the Civilian Service for the Navy during World War II. She returned to Benson in 1946 and worked as a teller at First State Bank.

Evelyn married Robert William Erenberg in 1948 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. They were blessed with four children and 65 years of married life together. After marriage, she embraced her role as a homemaker until she went to work for the family owned and operated Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company. Evie was a member of the Benson VFW Auxiliary, the Eastern Star Swift Chapter 157 O.E.S. of Benson, Sons of Norway, the Ladies Golf and Bowling Leagues, and as a member of Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church she was active in the Ladies Circle, Bible Study, and the Smorgasbord Committee for many years.

She enjoyed traveling with Bob, they had many adventures together. But she always loved being at home in Benson with family and friends.  She enjoyed entertaining and setting the dining room table for special occasions and holidays. She wanted to let everyone know they were special and loved.  And Evie could adapt to entertaining at the lake, “roughing it” was always the theme, while making so many memories for all who came to Lake Skandi to enjoy a day at the lake.  Her satisfaction came from having a lovely home filled with family (and clean windows).  She missed Bob terribly after his passing but had good friends in town to see her through and keep her busy.   She was a true matriarch to her family, she was caring, strong, loving, supportive. She had the answer to our questions and calmed concerns. We will all miss her sage wisdom.

She was called from this life Tuesday evening, September 7, 2021 at Folkestone-Gables Care Center in Wayzata, Minnesota. She attained the age of 96 years and eight months.

She is survived by her four children: Mark Erenberg of Lauderdale, David Erenberg ( Vicki) of Anoka, Susan Palenik of Columbus, OH, and Anita (Richard) Gallagher of Excelsior; seven grandchildren: Nathaniel, Dana, Sarah, Amanda, Ross, Ryan, and Andrea; six great-grandchildren: Sophie, Rachel, Adrian, Annika, Aurora and Arlene; nieces, nephews, and other family.

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert,  February 8, 2014, her parents Olaf and Ida, her siblings and their spouses, Myron (Lois) Hollen, Blanche (Milton) Goulet, Carol (Donald) Peterson, son in-law Rudy Palenik Oct.  2020 and grandson Anthony Erenberg  July  2021.

Blessed be her memory.

Zniewski funeral home of Benson is assisting the family with the arrangements.
