Scott Schuerman died Tuesday afternoon, August 2, 2022, at the St. Cloud Hospital. Visitation was held Sunday, August 7, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson and continued Monday, August 8, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment was in the Benson City Cemetery.

Scott Schuerman was born April 18, 1969, at the Swift County Benson Hospital in Benson, Minnesota, the son of Dennis Schuerman and Myrt (Knutson) McCarthy. He was baptized at the Danvers Lutheran Church and confirmed at the First Lutheran Church in Little Falls, Minnesota. Scott lived in Little Falls where he attended and graduated from high school. He went on to own his own business in landscaping and hauling wood.

Scott lived in Danvers, Little Falls, Benson, St Cloud, and most recently in Sartell, Minnesota. Scott loved deer hunting, duck and pheasant hunting with his brother and many friends. He could still deer hunt with a gun mount he bought. He could release the trigger by blowing into a straw. He shot two deer by using his mount. Nancy, Nick, Randy, Marcia and recently Chance, all helped him get out to hunt. It was always quite an undertaking. Tom and Chris built his platform and ramp for his new blind which he utterly loved. He was back up in the air hunting.

Scott loved fishing and he had two handicap fishing poles. He could still catch fish in his pontoon. He loved watching the Vikings. He would watch rerun after rerun during the off season. He loved watching NASCAR, the Twins and the Wild. He also loved going to rock concerts. He also loved spending time on his computer communicating with people; broke up his loneliness. He could open the building door, use the phone, text, recline his bed, turn his lights on and off, turn his fans on and off and run his television with his computer. He watched hunting videos and music videos.

Scott loved training and working with his yellow lab service dog (Sammy). Helping Paws helped him receive this companion and his adoption parents were awesome to come and visit Scott and Sammy. They took him back when Sammy retired out of service. Scott now had a cat (Rambo) who slept in his bed every night with him.

Scott was called from this life Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at the St. Cloud Hospital. He attained the age of 53 years, three months, and 14 days.

Scott is survived by his mother, Myrt McCarthy; siblings:  Nancy (Tom) Moline of Sauk Rapids, Lori (Pat) Hawley of Benson, Marcia Schuerman of Glenwood, Steve (Angela) Schuerman of Starbuck, Jacqueline (special friend, Randy Johnson) Schuerman of Sauk Rapids; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Dennis Schuerman; stepfather, Mike McCarthy; and grandparents: Julius & Hazel Schuerman, and Richard & Ingeborg Knutson.

He was blessed and thankful for Mary Stormo, his nurse for eight years, Randi Allgood for her PCA company staffing and all the numerous PCAs which made his independence possible.

Zniewski Funeral Home of Benson is assisting the family with the arrangements.
