Chair Brian Samuelson read the 2020-2021 superintendent year-end summary.
The 2021-2022 Return to School Plan was reviewed. The plan recommends masks for unvaccinated staff and students. As required by federal order, masks are required on buses and other school vehicles.
2020-2021 Accomplishments and Goals was presented.
Minnesota River Valley Education District (MRVED) Director Karen Jacobson presented strategic plan information.  Karen will bring a draft survey to the August 16th board meeting for review.

BHS Open Lunch:  Approved adding closed open lunch to 9th grade students and require a signed parent permission waiver for grades 10-12 students to leave campus for lunch and update this change in the first reading of the 2021-2022 grades 6-12 student handbook.
2021-2022 PK-5 Student Handbook:  This is the first reading.

The Benson Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on September 7, 2021 at noon in the Benson City Council Chambers to consider a Conditional Use Permit to construct a 60’ x 65’ building east of the car wash at 1531 Oregon Avenue.
 
All interested persons are invited to attend the hearing or submit written comments to the office of the City Manager, 1410 Kansas Ave, Benson, MN 56215, or by calling 320-843-5448 prior to the hearing.

 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND TITLE XV: LAND USAGE,
CHAPTER 154: ZONING; §§ 154.002 and 154.056
OF THE BENSON CITY CODE OF 2003
 
The City of Benson does ordain:
 
Title XV, Chapter 154, § 154.002 (B) – Definitions, is hereby amended by adding the following paragraph:
 
SLAUGHTER FACILITY.  A facility designed for the purpose of killing animals, skinning, dressing and cutting up of carcasses, wrapping for sale for human consumption with cooler and freezer storage and includes indoor confinement of animals while awaiting slaughter but shall not include any cooking or process related to processing plants such as smoking, curing or the manufacturing of meat by-products or any process related to rendering plants such as the manufacture of tallow, grease, glue, fertilizer or any other inedible product.
 
Title XV, Chapter 154, § 154.056 (B), INDUSTRIAL USES is hereby amended by adding the following line:
