SCBHS moving ahead with CentraCare affiliation

Swift County’s Board of Commissioners and the Benson City Council gave their support Monday night to Swift County-Benson Health Services moving forward with affiliation with a regional medical group.
SCBHS is considering affiliation with CentraCare Health of St. Cloud, or Carris Health of Willmar. CentraCare owns Carris.
The decision to pursue affiliation is scheduled to take place at the SCBHS governing board meeting May 23. If approved, it will then begin negotiating with CentraCare on the terms of affiliation with a decision to approve the agreement later this summer. That agreement will either be for CentraCare to lease the local hospital and clinic, or take over ownership.
Benson’s council members and county commissioners met with SCBHS governing board Monday night to receive background on why affiliation made more financial sense than remaining independent. It will ultimately be their decision on whether or not to approve the affiliation agreement based on legislation that established the SCBHS Hospital District...
