Donna Mae Rustad

Donna Mae Rustad, 89, of Benson, Minnesota, died Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Swift County Benson Hospital in Benson. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.  Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at West Zion Lutheran Church in rural Hancock, followed by the funeral service at 2:o0 p.m. Burial will be in the West Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Donna Mae (Swenson) Rustad was born May 8, 1932 in Hancock, the daughter of Swen J. Swenson and Alvina (Roisum) Swenson. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Hancock. Donna graduated from Hancock High School.

April 11, 1953, she married Sidney Arnold Rustad at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church. They were blessed with 67 years of marriage, four children, nine grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

Brian Thompson

Brian Thompson, 60, of Kerkhoven, Minnesota died Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Paynesville Area Hospital.  There was a visitation for Brian, Saturday, October 23  from 2-5 p.m., at Harvey Anderson Kerkhoven Funeral Home in Kerkhoven.  Per family request, masks must be worn during the visitation.  www.hafh.org

Enid Hanson

Enid Priscilla Ronning was born November 27, 1926, the only child of Edward P. Ronning and Edith A. (Lundquist) Ronning. She grew up on her parent’s farm near Boyd, Minnesota and attended school in Boyd. By skipping two grades, she was able to graduate from high school in the spring of 1943 and began her studies at St. Olaf College in Northfield in the fall of that year.

At St. Olaf, she majored in Food & Nutrition, but also was able to study Norwegian and pipe organ. After completing her B.A. degree in 1947, she began an internship at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis to become a registered dietician. Upon completion of her studies, she was hired at a hospital in Minot, N.D.

At the Minot hospital, she met a lab technician named Elaine Hanson, who later introduced Enid to her older brother, Richard T. Hanson. Enid and Richard married on May 13, 1951.

Helen Goulet

Helen Goulet passed away peacefully at home October 14, 2021 at the age of 86.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 27 (today), 2021 at 1 p.m. at Kok Funeral Home (7676 80th Street South Cottage Grove, Minnesota) with visitation beginning at 12 p.m.

Helen was born March 2, 1935 and raised in Hancock, Minnesota, where she met and married Jerome Goulet. Helen and Jerry were lifelong residents of Cottage Grove, after returning from a two-year military station in Hawaii.

Helen was a gardener, a cook, a baker, and beautician just to name a few. She enjoyed golf, art, cards and was an avid fan of the MN Twins. She loved to entertain family and friends and hosted numerous memorable events.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, three children, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one sister, and one sister-in-law.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents, 10 siblings, one sister-in-law, and one brother-in-law.

John Klang

John Klang, of Montevideo, Minnesota died Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at the Veterans Home in Fergus Falls at the age of 91.

Visitation with the family was held Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 1-3 p.m. at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.  A prayer service was held at 3:00 p.m. with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

John Kenneth Klang was born November 3, 1929 in Danvers, to Louis and Elsie Christensen Klang.  He attended school in the Danvers area.  He entered the United States Air Force and served his country during the Korean Conflict.  

February 19, 1955, he married Cecilia Vander Weyst in Benson.  They made their home in Montevideo and raised three children, Jim, Sue and Kathy.  John was the owner and operator of John’s Auto and Diesel Service for over 30 years.  He married Ellen White June 30, 1995.  John and Ellen lived in Morris and would winter in Mission, TX.  John entered the Veterans Home in Fergus Falls in October of 2020.

Jeffrey A. Kvam

Jeffrey “Jeff” Alan Kvam, 55, of Rockford, Minnesota  passed away unexpectedly of natural causes Monday, September 27, 2021 in Benson.

A Gathering of family and friends was held Friday, Oct. 8 in Delano.  

A Celebration of Life was held  Saturday, October 9 in Rockford.

Inurnment will take place at a later date in Bagley.

He was born May 19, 1966 in Farmington to James and Betty (Rasmussen) Kvam.   Jeff grew up in Bagley and graduated from Bagley High School in 1984.  He attended St. Cloud State University and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Business.  His professional career was working for 33 years at MWCIA (Minnesota Worker’s Compensation Insurer’s Association) in various underwriting positions. Jeff was united in marriage to Veronica Krueger  August 11, 1990 in Bagley.

Herman Roger Lamppa

Herman Roger Lamppa, 88, of Virginia, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Waterview Pines in Virginia.

Funeral services were held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tower with a reception that followed in the church basement. Visitation was for one hour prior to the service at the Church.  Pastor Liz Cheney officiated.  All were welcome to attend and celebrate Roger’s life.

He was born Wednesday, November 16, 1932 in Waasa Township to parents Richard Victor Lamppa & Rose Marie (Rapinoja) Lamppa. Roger grew up in Embarrass and graduated from Embarrass High School in 1950.

March 7, 1953, he married Joan Carlson of Soudan in Duluth, and together, they raised six children.

Adam D. Nordaune

Adam Donald Nordaune of Benson, Minnesota, passed away  September 22, 2021, at the age of 43.

He was born May 23, 1978 to Jim and Sandy Nordaune. Adam’s true passion was art. He was the happiest when he was attending the Atelier Studio Program of Fine Art in Minneapolis where he refined his skills of drawing and painting.

Adam is survived by his sister, Trisha Nordaune Ness and Steve Ness of Chandler, AZ; sister in-law, Beth Nordaune of Rochester; brother in-law, Jeff Young of Rochester; nieces, Ava and Laurel Nordaune of Rochester; and his dog, Olive Ann.

Adam was preceded in death by his brother, Jason Nordaune; his parents, James and Sandy Nordaune; grandparents, Betty Lou and Donald Kepner and Elvin and Bernice Nordaune; and his two dogs, Pickles and Zoey.

Funeral arrangements are pending at this time.

Shirley L. Kepner

Shirley Kepner, 91, of Holloway, Minnesota passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2021, in Meadow Lane Rehabilitation Center in Benson.  A graveside service was held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 5, 2021, in the Appleton City Cemetery.  Pastor Herbert Rotunda officiated.

Shirley Louise Kepner was born February 16, 1930, in Benson Minnesota, the daughter of Selmer and Leone (Goff) Sather.  She was baptized June 5, 1930, and confirmed June 13, 1943, at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Benson.  Shirley graduated from Benson High School June 19, 1947.  

September 18, 1948, Shirley was united in marriage to Ben Hur Kepner of Holloway.  This union was blessed with seven children, 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.  After marriage she embraced her role as a homemaker.  Her hobbies included puzzles, crosswords, gardening and baking.

Florence E. Lauinger

Florence Emma Lauinger, 93, died peacefully at her home near Hancock, Minnesota under the care of Hospice, Wednesday, morning, September 29, 2021.

Visitation was held Sunday, October 3, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church in Clontarf, and continued Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment was in the St. Malachy’s Catholic Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Glacial Ridge Hospice and Home Health Care.  

Florence Emma Lauinger was born June 3, 1928, in Silva, North Dakota, the daughter of Jack and Barbara Meyer Voeller. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. She grew up and attended school in Fillmore, North Dakota.
