Edward C. Mitteness

Edward C. Mitteness, 89, of Hendricks, Minnesota passed away Sunday, July 25, 2021 at the Hendricks Hospital in Hendricks.

Funeral Services were 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2021 at Christ Lutheran Church in Hendricks with Rev. Levi Bollerud officiating. Burial was in the Wood Lake Lutheran Cemetery, rural Astoria, SD. Visitation was held from 5 - 7 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Christ Lutheran Church in Hendricks and resumed Friday one hour prior to the service.

Edward Charles Mitteness was born April 18, 1932, on the family farm in Camplake Township of rural Benson,  to Martin and Emma (Lyslo) Mitteness.  He was baptized and confirmed at Swift Falls Lutheran Church of rural Benson.

August 15, 1965, Edward Charles Mitteness married Eveline Caroline Nesheim at Wood Lake Lutheran Church of rural Astoria, SD.

Mary Anne Abner

Mary Anne Abner, 74, of Benson died Friday morning, July 16, 2021, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Friday, July 30, 2021, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon. Private interment will be in the Our Redeemer’s Cemetery in Benson.

Reception immediately following service at the Benson Golf Club.  Memorials can be directed to the Swift County Humane Society.  

Mary Anne Abner was born January 8, 1947, in Appleton, Minnesota, the daughter of Richard and Ione Rooney.  She was baptized and received her first communion at St. John’s Catholic Church in Appleton and was confirmed at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson.  She attended grade school in Appleton and at St. Francis Catholic School.  She graduated from Benson High School in 1965, attended St. Cloud State University and was employed by Travelers Insurance.

Gerda J. Saulsbury

Gerda Jean Saulsbury, 96, of Willmar, Minnesota died Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Bethesda Grand in Willmar.

Her funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 30, 2021 at Eagle Lake Lutheran Church in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to her service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Gerda Jean Saulsbury was born December 13, 1924, in Artichoke Township in Swift County, the daughter of Michael and Minda (Stenstuen) Larson; reaching the age of 96 years old – seven months and nine days. Gerda was baptized at Artichoke Lutheran Church and confirmed in the Christian faith at Drywood Lutheran Church in Swift County. She attended country school District 65 and graduated from Appleton High School in 1943.

Richard L. Bredeken

Richard “Dick” Bredeken, 85, of Benson, Minnesota died Saturday, July 17, 2021, at his home in Benson under hospice care.  

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 24, 2021, at First Evangelical Free Church in Benson.  Pastor Bjorn Bakke officiated.  Interment was in the Benson City Cemetery.

Richard Loren Bredeken was born October 3, 1935, in Starbuck, Minnesota, the son of Harry and Johanna (Carlson) Bredeken.  Richard was confirmed in 1949 at the Evangelical Free Church in Benson, by Rev. Loren Carlson.  He was raised in the Benson-Starbuck area where he attended school, graduating from Benson High School.  Richard enjoyed traveling to Arizona, Florida, California, and restoring and collecting old cars from the 50’s and 60’s.

Vernon ‘Lefty’ Norling

Vernon “Lefty” Norling, 84, of Kandiyohi, died Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Bethesda Grand Nursing Home in Willmar.

A celebration of life will be 1-3:00 p.m., Sunday, August 8, 2021 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Kandiyohi.  For your comfort, please bring your own chair.

Vernon Stanford “Lefty” Norling was born March 21, 1936, in Willmar, to Stanford and Ella (Ritz) Norling.  He grew up on the Norling Brothers Silo Company farm near Svea and later moved with his family into Willmar.  He was baptized at Svea Lutheran Church and confirmed at First Covenant Church in Willmar.  He attended school in Svea and Willmar, graduating from Willmar High School in 1956.  Lefty served in the US Army in Korea from 1959 to 1960.

Raymond ‘LuVerne’ Sondrol

Raymond “LuVerne” Sondrol, 95, of Sunburg, Minnesota passed away Thursday morning, July 22, 2021 at Bethesda Grand in Willmar.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, at Hope Lutheran Church in Sunburg.  Interment will be at West Norway Lake Lutheran Cemetery.  Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 26, at Hope Lutheran Church and continued for one hour prior to the service.  

LuVerne was born May 25, 1926, on the family farm near Sunburg, the son of Ole and Alma (Lansverk) Sondrol.  He grew up and received his education in the Sunburg community and continued to work on the family farm.

Sandra Nordaune, 73, of Benson, died on Tuesday, afternoon, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday July 19, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Interment will be in the St. Francis Catholic Church Cemetery in Benson.
