Technology Is Failing Our Students

If there is a visual metaphor what the internet and social media are doing to the strength of the American mind, our children’s education, and on our physical condition, it can be seen in the fitness center.
A young person walks in, sits down in a chair to change shoes, and pulls out a phone. It delays their starting their workout as they spend the first 5 to 10 minutes gazing at their phone....We know this scenario doesn’t apply to everyone and there are varying degrees of how much time is wasted depending on the individual. We observe this behavior in some adults, too...For education, and life, using technology is a balance between the incredible aid it provides, and it is becoming an addictive black hole that steals our attention from what is meaningful.
