33 from Helgenset earns Braves 15-point win

The Benson girls basketball team got one game completed last week in the midst of the extreme cold weather and postponements around the area. The Braves hosted Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda in Benson Jan. 19 and came away with a 71-56 win thanks to a big 33-point performance from Kaida Helgenset.
Very early in the game, Benson trailed 4-3, but the Braves then went on a 20-2 run to take a commanding 23-6 advantage in the first half. Benson was able to hold onto the double-digit lead, but HLOF was able to trim the gap down to 10 at 32-22 at halftime.
