Benson plans to celebrate the 250th anniversary of United States’ Declaration of Independence from the British monarch with large pyrotechnic display July 2...Benson’s Economic Development Authority sought funding for the fireworks display through grants from the Sonsteng Foundation and the Benson Area Community Foundation totaling $10,000. Both foundations agreed to fund the Benson Lights the Spark- Kickoff to the 250 Years of Freedom Celebration, the EDA’s Laura Mitteness told its Benson City Council last month.
