Funeral services for Avaran Kvistad, 19, of Crawford will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Crawford Community Building with Pastor Bill Bagley officiating.  Burial will take place at the Crawford Cemetery.  A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at Chamberlain Chapel in Crawford.
Avaron was born on March 24, 1994 in Alexandria, Minnesota.  His biological mother was Eva Bacca who was a foster daughter of Steve and Mary Jo Kvistad.  Eva placed Avaran up for adoption with a request that he be adopted by the Kvistad’s.
Avaron spent the first eleven years of his life in rural Swift Falls, Minnesota attending school in Benson.  He was involved in wrestling, hunting, and horseback riding.  Avaran traveled countless miles to High School and Little Britches rodeos to support his older brothers and sisters and became a competitor himself.  Through all of his travels Avaran endeared himself to everyone he met.
In 2005, Avaran moved to Crawford, Nebraska with his family where he attended Crawford Schools.  He was involved in Football, wrestling (qualified 2 times to state), All School Plays (selected Best Actor) and Band.  He enjoyed playing his guitar, singing, writing poetry, and reading.  His enthusiasm was evident in whatever he chose to participate in.
Avaran had an interest in the military and was very proud of his involvement in the National Guard.  Avaran attended the First Community Church in Crawford.  His faith was a significant factor in his life.  Avaran appreciated and loved his family.  He thoroughly enjoyed playing with his nieces and nephews.
Avaran died at the age of 19 in Alliance, Nebraska on June 21, 2013.  The family suggests memorials to the Crawford Public Library or the Crawford Rescue Unit.  Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE  69337.
His survivors include his grandmother, Alice Kvistad of Grand Falls, MN; Father, Steve Kvistad of Marsland, Nebraska; Mother, Mary Jo Kvistad of Crawford, NE; Sisters, Maesa (Coy) Kummer of Grover, CO and their children Gracyn and Elle; Dusti (Tracy) Swan of Hubbard, TX and their children Darbi and Liam; Brothers, Tait (Lacey) Kvistad of Grover, CO. Chance (Lisa) Kvistad of Chadron, NE and their children Kayden and Miley, Xavier Kvistad of Chadron, Nebraska; Biological grandmother Judy Barrios of Lubbock, Texas; biological mother Eva Hernandez of Lubbock, Texas and her children Alexis Lee, Marie, Alexis, Inez, and Isaiah; Honorary Grandparents Jo and LaVerne McCoy.
