Brenda Hughes, 53, of St. Peter, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly in her home Monday, March 3, 2025. She was born to Clyde Hughes and Arlene (Rundle, Hughes) Lokken in Benson, Minnesota,  January 1, 1972.
A Celebration of Life will be held May 24, 2025 at The Gathering in St. Peter from 10-2 with a short prayer and lunch at noon.
Brenda grew up on the family farm just south of Danvers. She attended grade school in Danvers and Benson High School before moving to Mapleton where she graduated from Maple River High School with the Class of 1990. While living in Mapleton, she received her CNA license and worked for the Mapleton Community Home. She went on to Albert Lea Technical College where she studied Medical Transcription. After college, she worked for Mankato Lutheran Home as well as the St. Peter Nursing Home. She had met and married Doug Gondreau. They lived in St. Peter while raising their children, Ashley and Adam. They later divorced. Her last place of employment was as a bus aide for the City of St. Peter on the Transit bus.
Brenda liked to work outside, tending to her garden; reading, doing crafts, thrift store shopping. She loved and collected all things penguin. She also loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, grand-pets, friends, neighbors, and her cat, Piper.
Brenda is survived by her children, Ashley Gondreau of Mankato, MN and Adam (Ashley) of Mapleton; and grandchildren: Jadyn, Madyson, Emylee; siblings: Deb (John) Dixson, Doug (Sandy) Hughes, Vince Hughes, Lisa (Craig) Bohlman, Sue Greig, Linda Cromartie, Mary Prigge, Joseph Hughes and many nieces and nephews.
Brenda is preceded in death by her parents; brother Steven Hughes; sisters Theresa Jerve and Sandi Robinson; nephews Jacob Hughes and Billy Sales.
Brenda was so loved by her family and friends. She will be remembered and greatly missed by all who knew her.
