A Memorial Service for Burnell Olson will be held  Saturday, July 27 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson.
Burnell was a wonderful guy that lived life to the fullest.

He was born in Barrett, Minnesota  April 8, 1939, to Clarence & Dorothy Olson. He spent his childhood in Benson and Glenwood along with his brothers, Dennis, Roger and Mark.
Burnell was an honor role student and a fantastic athlete, breaking state records in pole vaulting and excelling in basketball and football, which earned him the "Craig Johnson" award.

He started his Bachelors studies at Macalester College in St. Paul; after transferring, he received a history degree from St. Cloud State.
He married his college sweetheart, Janice Haltom and raised a family which included son, Bradley and daughters, Janelle and Jacqueline.

He began his career as a teacher and coach and eventually went to work for General Motors. After retiring in 1992, he moved to Tablerock Lake in Missouri with Jan and enjoyed water skiing and  boating with his family & friends.
Burnell passed away  June 10th, 2013 in Missouri.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, kids & grandchildren; Sophie, Madeline, Olivia, Nicholas and Kylee, his brothers, sisters-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, nieces, nephews & friends.
