Dale Kannegiesser, 84, of Hancock, Minnesota passed away peacefully Friday, November 5, 2021, at Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck.  Memorial services were held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, November 11, 2021, at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Hancock.  Pastor Julius Miller officiated.  Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Shible Township at a later date.
Dale was born Oct 1, 1937, in Walden Township, Pope County, Minnesota, to George and Emma (Nissen) Kannegiesser. Due to complications at birth, Dale spent a part of his young life at Gillette Children’s Hospital regaining the use of his left arm.   He was baptized in February, 1938 at rural First Lutheran Church and later confirmed at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Benson. Dale attended country school in Hoff Township and also attended Hancock High School. 
Sept. 30, 1961, Dale was united in marriage to Dorothy Carstens at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Shible Township. Dale and Dorothy celebrated 60 years of marriage this past September. To this marriage four children were born, Kevin, Sonia, Erick and Ted.
Dale grew up and lived out his life on the same farm in Hoff Township, Pope County, growing corn and soybeans, milking cows, raising hogs and feeding cattle. Raising beef cattle was his passion. He looked forward to a good cattle auction and was a regular at most of the sales barns in South Dakota.  Dale remained on the farm until November, 2016 when health issues forced him to nursing and assisted living facilities. 
Dale was an avid hunter and many deer hunting shenanigans were had with his buddies. Fishing trips to Canada with some of the same crew were always good times.  Dale also loved to travel, with Las Vegas, the western US and Alaska being favorite adventure sites. 
Dale was a very social guy and enjoyed visiting with everyone at the care facilities. He was always ready with a story, a mischievous smile and sometimes inappropriate joke. He loved to hear about his grandkids and great-grand kids and was very proud of all of them. 
He is survived by his wife Dorothy of Hancock; daughter, Sonia Kannegiesser-Boser (Mike) of Avon; sons: Erick of Hancock and Ted (Kristy) of Clontarf; grandchildren: Jessica Pullis (Kody), Corey Ascheman, Jacob (Kaylee) Ascheman, Noah, Jenna, Kara, Ty and Ava Kannegiesser; great-grandchildren Waylon and Lyla Pullis and Bodie Ascheman; sister, Darlene Gratz of Atwater; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Emma; sister, Lila; and son, Kevin.  Please sign the guestbook at www.zniewskifuneralhome.com
