Discovery Kids Advisory Council put on hold

What is the purpose of the Discovery Kids Advisory Council? What is its role? Is it something that should be continued? Can it be rebranded? 
Those were all questions Mackenzie Dokkebakken posed to the District 777 Board of Education at its meeting May 11. Dokkebakken is the district’s community education director, but also works with oversight of the Discovery Kids program.
There have been eight meetings of the seven-member advisory council since it was created by the board of education in March 2025. Of the seven members on the council, only three have made it to five of those meetings. There is one member who has attended only one meeting and another who has been to only two, she said.
