Final decison to resolve canine conundrum up to county commissioners

With an offer of $5,000 made to buy Red, the K-9 German shepherd that has been now-former Swift County Sheriff’s Deputy Steve Henriksen’s partner, had to be matched.
If Henriksen couldn’t or wouldn’t match the offer, Red would be going to a new owner. He had until the end of the day Monday to make the offer, but it also had yet to be reviewed by the Swift County Board of Commissioners at their Tuesday, June 2 meeting.

Last week, following the publication of a story in the Swift County Monitor-News on the discussion about Red and his future, the sheriff’s office posted a news release to Facebook about the situation.
