James "Jimmy" A. Hanson, 70, of Hancock

James "Jimmy" A. Hanson, 70, of Hancock, passed away  Friday, July 19, 2013, at the Swift County Benson Hospital in Benson, Minnesota.  
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m.  Thursday, July 25, 2013 at the Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Hancock, Minnesota, with the Rev. Seth Novak officiating.  Visitation was held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.  Wednesday, July 24 at the Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Hancock and continued for one hour prior to the service.  Arrangements were with the Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson.
James “Jimmy” Allen Hanson was born  May 20, 1943 in Underwood, Minnesota to Baldwin and Evelyn (Bergerud) Hanson.  He was confirmed at Sverdrup Lutheran Church in Underwood and graduated from Underwood High School.  
November 28, 1964, he was married to Gail Maureen (Johnsen) Hanson in Battle Lake, Minnesota.  This union was blessed with more than 48 years of marriage, four children, and 11 grandchildren.
Jimmy lived and worked in Underwood at the elevator until 1964.  He and Gail then moved to Milbank, South Dakota, and Jimmy worked at the Milbank Elevator until 1966 when he was transferred to Hancock Feed and Grain until it was closed in 1999.  He then worked for 13 years at Hancock Concrete of Hancock.  Jimmy was the President of the Hancock Sports Booster Club and a member of the Hancock Snowmobile Club.  
Among the things he enjoyed were bowling, deer hunting, gardening, mowing his yard, grilling, watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports, playing cards with Leo, and socializing with his friends at Flinn’s and his family.   Jimmy was called from this life  Friday, July 19, 2013 at the Swift County Benson Hospital in Benson.  He attained the age of 70 years, one month, and 29 days.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Gail of Hancock; children: Keith (Carmen) Hanson of St. Peter, Kurt (Molly) Hanson of Benson, Kimberly Hanson of Sauk Rapids, and Karri (Corey) Leen of Sartell; grandchildren: Josh, Emily, Sierra, Brady, Hannah, Halle, Brock, Brogan, Tyler, Hunter, and Mason; siblings: Sandy (Sonny) Tjaden of Fergus Falls, Shirley (Jerry) Budke of Green Bay, WI, Joyce (Jerry) Sholberg of Escondido, CA, Gerald (Ruby) Hanson of Fergus Falls, Rodney (Ruth) Hanson of Benbrook, TX, Steven (Sharon) Hanson of Ottertail, Daniel (Som) Hanson of Moreno Valley, CA, and Linda Hanson of Fergus Falls; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.  
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Evelyn and Baldwin Hanson.
