Laurie J. Mortenson, 65, of Benson, Minnesota, died  Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Meadow Lane Care Center. Visitation was held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 3, 2023, at the Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ in Benson, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial was in the Benson City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials were preferred.

Laurie Jean Mortenson was born October 26, 1957, in Morris, Minnesota, the daughter of Harvey and Marlys Fiebelkorn Hoffman. She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hancock, November 10, 1957, by Rev. E. Hallauer and confirmed there May 16, 1971, by the Rev. Lopas. She grew up in Benson and Danvers and graduated from Benson Senior High School.

September 6, 1975, Laurie was united in marriage to Keith Neil Mortenson at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hancock, by Rev. Lopas. This union was blessed with over 47 years of marriage. She worked as a manager at the Amoco Food Shop and for the  In and Out gas station in Benson and as a Paraprofessional at the Area Learning Center at  Benson High School.  She was a member of Pilgrim United Church of Christ in Benson. Laurie enjoyed playing softball, bowling, darts, and was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan. She loved spending time with the family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was called from this life Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at the Meadow Lane Care Center in Benson. She attained the age of 65 years, seven months, and four days.

Laurie is survived by her husband, Keith of Benson; her children: Shawn (Nikki) Mortenson of Benson and Scott Mortenson of Benson; her mother Marlys Hoffman of Benson; six grandchildren: Lindsey, Cash, Maci, Mikayla, Devon, and Brinlee; two great grandchildren Kiya and Kinzley Melcher; brothers, Glen (Marcia) Hoffman of Alexandria and Timothy (Linda) Hoffman of St. Francis; and several other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her father Harvey, grandparents Maybel and Oscar Fiebelkorn and her father and mother-in-law Clayton and Donna Mortenson.
