Leroy W. Beyer, 87, Benson

LeRoy W. Beyer, 87, of Benson, died Friday, April 25, 2014, at the Golden Living Center in Benson.
A memorial service was held 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2014 at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson. Visitation was held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson.
LeRoy William Beyer, 87, was born March 30, 1927, in Holloway, Minnesota, the son of Fred and Martha Suckow Beyer. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Holloway and attended District 97 school in Moyer Township. LeRoy served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954.
LeRoy was united in marriage to Beatrice Elizabeth Grothe September 18, 1959, at Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Danvers by the Rev. JR Sheppard. This union was blessed with over 54 years of marriage, two children, and one grandson. They farmed until 1964 when they moved to Benson. He then worked for Case Tyler in the painting department retiring in 1984. He worked at the Benson VFW Post as a custodian. He moved into the Golden Living Center in October of 2008.
LeRoy enjoyed fishing for bullheads and northerns at the Swift Falls Park and Page Lake, taking Marshal fishing at Torgey Bridge in Glenwood, playing Bingo at the care center and bird watching. He loved spending time with his family.
He was called from this life Friday April 25, at the Golden Living Center in Benson. He attained the age of 87 years, one month, and 26 days.
LeRoy is survived by his wife, Beatrice of Benson; a daughter Joyce (Roy) Lagred of Starbuck, a son Allen (Bridget) Beyer of Willmar; a grandson Marshal Lagred; a sister in law Doris Beyer of Holloway; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Martha, brothers, Alvin, Raymond, and Vernon, and sisters Leota, Merle, and Mabel.
