Marie J. Johnson, 79, of Murdock, Minnesota went to be with the Lord April 24, 2021. Her funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 1, at Kerkhoven Evangelical Free Church with a reception following the service. Burial will be in Frank Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church.
Marie Joan Johnson was born July 6, 1941, in Benson, Minnesota, the daughter of Frank and Ruth (Hubin) Thayer. She grew up on the family farm north of Kerkhoven. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord. She along with her family attended the Kerkhoven Evangelical Free Church, where she was confirmed and followed the Lord in baptism. Marie attended school in Kerkhoven and graduated from high school in 1959. She attended Northwestern College in Minneapolis following graduation.
June 2, 1962, she was united in marriage to Dennis Johnson at the Evangelical Free Church in Kerkhoven, Minnesota. This union was blessed with 55 years of marriage, four children and 10 grandchildren.
Marie was a homemaker and gave piano lessons out of her home for over 40 years. She was a faithful member of the Kerkhoven Evangelical Church, where for years she was the organist and directed a children’s choir.
Marie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a devoted follower of Christ. She will be deeply missed and always remembered by her children: Bradley (Kimberli) Johnson of Lino Lakes, Brent (Laura) Johnson of Murdock, Melissa (Wayde) Johnson of Shakopee, Heidi (Paul) Krueger of Wyoming, MN; grandchildren: Elizabeth Johnson, Brittany (Dustin) Drenth, Leah Johnson, Morgan (Jayden) DeVilibiss, Kirsten, Thomas, and Joseph Johnson, and Naomi, Dalton, and Carissa Krueger sisters: Marlys (Roland) Burquest of Elk River, Beverly Harvey of Lakeville, and Steven (and Karen) Thayer of Kerkhoven. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband: Dennis in 2018.
