Mary Bridget Langan
Mary B. Langan, 86, of Benson, Minnesota died Monday, December 11, 2023, at Scandi Haven Village in Benson. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, December 17, 2023, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson, with the rosary being prayed at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 18, 2023, at St. Francis Catholic Church, with the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in St. Malachy Catholic Cemetery in Clontarf, Minnesota. Memorials can be made to St. Malachy’s Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
Mary Bridget (Reardon) Langan was born May 28, 1937 in Clontarf, daughter of George and Lillie (Lyslo) Reardon. She was called from this life Monday, December 11, 2023 at Scandi Haven in Benson. She passed peacefully surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Mary attained the age of 86 years, six months 13 days.
Mary was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Clontarf by Father Richard King. She grew up and attended grade school in Clontarf and graduated from Benson High School in 1955. She attended St. Mary's School in Rochester and received her Registered Nursing degree in 1958. She began her career and passion for nursing at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.
Mary moved west continuing her nursing career at Yellowstone Hospital, Yellowstone National Park, WY, and St. Vincent Hospital, in Billings, MT. The Rocky Mountains became some of her favorite places to visit. She returned to Clontarf to care for her mother and began her life-long partnership with Jack Langan. September 9, 1961 Mary was united in marriage to Jack at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Clontarf by Father King.
Together they farmed in Tara Township, Swift County. To this union, four children were born. When the children were older, she resumed her nursing career at Swift County Benson Hospital, and later at Villa of St. Francis and Skyview Assisted Living in Morris until retirement in 2011. Mary enjoyed reading, travelling, shopping, and most importantly, visiting with family and friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their activities. In 2010, Mary moved to Benson and expanded her circle of friends at her home on Ada Avenue.
Mary is survived by her children: Bridget (Allen) Beyer of Willmar, Patrick (Mary) Langan of Benson, Katie (Gregg) Langan Sutton of Orono and Michael Langan of Danvers; three grandchildren: Laura, Elizabeth, and Jack Langan; and five siblings: Francis Reardon of Benson, Joan (Charlie) Floyd of Nocona, TX, Jeanette Wetzel of Sedro-Woolley, WA, Marlyn (Lowell) Perry of Villard, and Tim (Katie) Reardon of Clontarf.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Jack Langan, parents George and Lillie Reardon, and an infant brother George.
