Oswald A. Kari, 90, formerly of Benson/Swift Falls
Oswald A. Kari, 90, passed away Monday, July 15, 2013, at the Benedictine Manor Nursing Home in Arcadia, Wisconsin.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 19, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, rural Benson, Minnesota, with Pastor Seth Novak officiating.
Burial was in the Swift Falls Cemetery. Visitation was held at the church Friday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Casket Bearers were Tim Slaughter, Lynn Larson, Greg Nelson, Scott Nelson, Roy Lagred and Jonathan Fahl.
Oswald was born November 16, 1922 at Pine City, Minnesota to John and Ethel (Koski) Kari. He graduated from Finlayson High School.
He served his country in the U.S. Army. He married Emma Mae Habeck August 21, 1948; she preceded him in death in August of 2001.
Oswald was a dairy and turkey farmer in the Benson and Swift Falls area prior to his retirement. He was a member of VFW Post #1403 of Benson, Minnesota and Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; two sons, Gordon and Dean; daughter, Sharon Voegele; daughter-in-law, Judith Kari; two sisters and three brothers.
He is survived by children, Carl (CJ) Kari, Ashby, Minnesota; Alan Douglas Kari, Arcadia, Wisconsin; Renee (Robert) Cleland, Waumandee, Wisconsin and Carol (Tony) Fosse, Prior Lake, Minnesota; 16 grandchildren; four step grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Cindy Kari, Long Prairie, Minnesota; son-in-law, Robert Voegele, Faribault, Minnesota; and sister, Alice (Gil) Krouch, Richfield, Minnesota.
