Ronald Molden, 80, of Big Bend

Ronald Molden, 80, of Big Bend, died late Monday evening at his residence.
Memorial services were held Monday, August 5 at 1 p.m. at Big Bend Lutheran Church. Friends were to call one hour prior to services at the church for visitation. Military Honors were provided by the Milan American Legion Post #359 Honor Guard. Wing-Bain Funeral Home of Montevideo was in charge of arrangements. www.wingbain.com
Ronald Arthur Molden was born November 28, 1932, in West Bank Township, Chippewa County, Minnesota, the son of Arthur and Agnes (Jacobs) Molden. He was baptized December 21, 1932 in Big Bend Lutheran Church and confirmed in the Lutheran faith June 22, 1947, also at Big Bend Lutheran Church. He attended country school in Swift County and later returned to school at the age of 35 to proudly earn his GED.
December 12, 1953, Ron was united in marriage to Vivian Christenson in the Big Bend Lutheran Parsonage and in July of that same year he entered the United States Army and served his country stationed in Germany until his honorable discharge in 1955.
Ron returned home to farm and also became an employee of Cargill Elevator until 1969 when he began work for Chippewa County, retiring in 1997. Ron was a lifetime member of Big Bend Lutheran Church and the Milan American Legion. He served on numerous committees and boards and was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Montevideo.
Ron loved to play music with his friends and family. He loved to fish, (especially when they were biting), and was blessed with a great sense of humor. He was a patient and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Ron treasured every moment he spent with his family and friends and always put the needs of others as a priority over his own.
Ron was called peacefully from this life at his home, while surrounded by family in the late evening hours of Monday July 29, 2013, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was 80 years of age.
Surviving family include his wife Vivian; his children: Carleen (& Wally) Snyder, Reed (& Jody) Molden, Rick (& Alissa) Molden and Carmen (& Aaron) BeMiller; his grandchildren- Cara Snyder, Tyson (& Kristina) Snyder, Trent Snyder, Alyse Molden, Kalie Molden, Nicholas Molden & Sean Molden; his sister Mae (& Jay) Baldwin and sister-in-law Vera Molden.
In addition to his parents, Art and Agnes, Ron was preceded in death by his brother Dennis.
