Concerns raised by the administration
- Students in school 20% less days.
- Longer days for students (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
- Longer day for substitute teachers.
- Longer day for staff (7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)
- School bus availability because bus drivers will be out later with classes ending later. They may not be back in time to take kids to sporting events.
- Less instruction time, breaks needed.
Benefits for students starting later, not allowed.
- Practice time for youth is going to be affected with the varsity practices starting later. They would now have to come in an hour later, Laumeyer said. That makes the day longer for parents who have to pick up kids.
