Sheriff given 2.8% increase, but sought 5%

The motion to set Holtz’s salary at $143,170 based on a 3% increase failed with all commissioners voting against it.

New sheriff salary 2027
With 2026 an election year for the county sheriff, commissioners were required to set the salary at which a new sheriff would start in 2027. It unanimously set that salary at $102,918.
