Wally was born April 1, 1930 to Lydia and Herbert Weiss at his grandparents’ farm south of Morris, Minnesota. He became quite a baseball player, practicing his accuracy on telephone pole insulators while walking three miles to and from school–uphill both ways.  In 1955, Wally moved to Benson where he eventually became the chief of police.  In 1960, Wally met and married Carolyn Bauer, who told him she hated cops.  He changed her mind and together they had four children.  He found time for singing in a barbershop chorus, studying Judo, and going to every band and choir concert and game that involved his children.  After his retirement in 1985, he and Carolyn joined Laborers for Christ and participated in building 27 churches in 10 years.  Wally and Carolyn then moved to Texas, where they spent 17 years before moving back to Minnesota.
Wally is survived by his adoring wife, Carolyn, children:   Christine Weiss (Brad) Klatt of Chisago City, Minnesota, Steven (Irene) of Huntsville, Alabama, Mark (Sharan) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Paul (Cathy) of Carrollton, Texas; two brothers, Donald (Estelle) of El Paso, Texas and Gerald, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Wally is also survived by his 13 grandchildren:  Eli and Noah Klatt;  Shana (Geff) Jolly, Jonathan, Jenny Weiss and Katrina Pedrahas;  Nic (Teylor), Ben, Sam (Kelcey), and Lydia Weiss;  Paden, Caleb (Remington), and Jessanna (Austin) Fitzpatrick.  Wally is blessed with six great-grandchildren:  Zachary, Arizona, Levi, Jameson, Cayde and Griffin.
In Heaven, Wally is now surrounded by his family–his mom and dad, his brother and sister-in-law, Alan and Lucy, and his baby sister.
