Gas line on Highway 12 hit a second time

Four days after causing a major rupture to the CenterPoint natural gas line running along U.S. Highway 12 east in Benson, crews working for Anderson Underground hit it again. “The City of Benson is notifying residents of another gas leak in the 600 block along Highway 12, near Stony Ridge Foods and John Deere in the same area as the leak last Thursday,” city officials stated. “No residents have been evacuated yet as the extent of the leak is not known,” their statement said. For the second time, an hours-long detour rerouted traffic around the area.
