David Allen Schluter, 78, of Benson, Minnesota, died Saturday, February 1, 2025, at CentraCare - Benson Hospital in Benson. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 10, 2025, at Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson. Visitation will continue from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at East Zion Lutheran Church in rural Starbuck, with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in East Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.
David Allen Schluter was born November 21, 1946, to Herman and Hazel (Mortenson) Schluter in Benson. He was baptized at East Zion Lutheran Church of rural Starbuck, Minnesota, and later, on June 25, 1961, was confirmed at East Zion Lutheran Church. David grew up on the family farm in Langhei Township, Pope County, Minnesota. He attended school in Benson, graduating from Benson High School with the Class of 1964.
David was a farmer his entire life and was involved with the Glacial Plains organization. He enjoyed having coffee at Sandy’s Café playing 654, Burger King, Benson Bakery, Whistle Stop, and his favorite was Buddies in Hancock to meet with his friends, Nascar racing, and driving around sightseeing, and traveling to different spots.
David was called from this life Saturday, February 1, 2025, at CentraCare – Benson Hospital in Benson. He was 78 years old.
Surviving him are his siblings: Betty Rosten of Glenwood, MN, George (Susie) Schluter of Maple Grove, MN, and Diane Wetherell of Inver Grove Heights, MN; sister-in-law Barb Schluter of Benson, and 10 nieces and nephews: Char Piche, Tom Piche, J.P. Piche, Jill Rosten, Jayne Rosten, Gene Wetherell, Tony Wetherell, Nicky Schluter, Shannon Schluter, and Kim Skjefstad. He was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Hazel Schluter, brother Robert Schluter, sisters Mary Piche and Pearl Skjefstad, brothers-in-law: Galen Wetherell, Robert Piche, Ray Skjefstad, and Eddie Rosten; and nephew George Schluter, Jr.
